Wayne Rooney disappointed to be left out of Man Utd's clash with Anderlecht

Wayne Rooney has been left out of Manchester United's squad for their Europa League quarter-final clash against Anderlecht on Thursday.

And United manager Joe Mourinho says the club captain is not happy with his fitness.

Asked about Rooney ahead of the match, Mourinho said: "He's not confident, he's not happy, he has bad feelings with his ankle."

The 31-year-old has struggled with injuries and illness in 2017, but had reportedly recovered from ankle trouble.
